I have an Abu 5000c reel and wanted to add some bearings and take out the brass bushings. I have no idea what size they are and how much they will even help such a small reel. Right now I get 100 yards with no problem, I want to be able cast very small lines a long ways.

They should be 4x10x4.

I saved this to a text file a long time ago, I dont remember where it came from but all you Cult reel junkies need to copy it and save it. Really useful info.

REEL BEARING SIZES

The most common bearings for the spools of Ultra-Cast style Abu reels is the 4x10x4mm. Your levelwind ball bearings are 3x7x3mm.


Here's some bearing sizes that might help you, along with some specs on other reels besides Abu. You might wanta' save this to a Word File or something for future reference. Thanks to all the guys who contributed to this list over the years.

The following reels use the 3mm X 10mm X 4mm ball bearings in the spools. Abu part number for this bearing is #5230 on the parts schematics.

Abu 7000C3 series - Abu 7500 series - Abu PM 1600 C Abu BM 3600 C
Abu BM 5600 - Abu SM 1600C - Abu T 3000 C

The levelwind bearing in Abu C4,C5 reels & others = 3mm X 7mmX 3mm

Abu UC6500 uses a 10x15x4mm and 8x13x4mm on the spool ends

Abu “Ultra Cast” reels with bearings inside the spool ends use two 4x10x4mm ball bearings.

Metric Thread: Abu 2500/4500/5500/6500 Gear Carriage = M8 x 0.75

Shimano Reels using the 3x10x4mm bearing in the spools are:
Calcutta 700 - Calcutta 400 - Calcutta 250 - Calcutta 251 - Curado
The Shimano BNT880(Bushing) & BNT194 are 3mm-10mm-4mm
Calcutta 50 uses one 5mmX11mmX4mm & one 3mmX10mmX4mm

Abu 10,000C uses two 5mm X 14mm X 4mm spool bearings
Abu 9000J Speed is 5 X 13 X 4.
Penn GS 525 and GS 535 uses a large 7mmX17mmX5mm bearing on the Gearbox Side of the reel.

Penn 525 Mag uses two 3/16”X3/8”X5/32” or .1875”X.375”X.156” in the spool. One 1/8”X3/8”X5/32” is under the adjuster cap on the gearbox sideplate.

Daiwa & Quantum bearings:
Daiwa #B35-8601 & B55-0301 (Bushing) are 5mm-9mm-3mm -
Daiwa # E08-8001 & F40-3701 (Bushing) are 3mm-8mm-4mm -
Quantum E600TI bearings:
Part# SW017-01 = 5mm-9mm-3mm
Part #SW117-01 IS A 3mm-9mm-4mm
Part#QW117-01 is a 3mm-8mm-4mm
The First E400-E500-E600 reels used (2) 5-9-3 on the spool shaft & (1) 3-8-4 under the tension cap
Newer Quantum Reels use (1) 5-9-3 (1) 3-9-4 (1) 3-8-4
Quantam 1310MG spool bearings - TWO 5x10x4mm

Actual Weight of Abu Brake Blocks in Grams:
White 0,0263 Black 0,0243 - Blue 0,0153 Fiber blocks 0,0130 gr
