Had a couple of hours free to practice this afternoon. I had originally planned to work with the TTR today. The Nationals are coming up in 5 weeks and I just haven't been practicing like I was leading up to the Primo.
Weather
Low 80's and Humid. Barometer at 29.95.
Wind light out of the north, switching to light out of the SE then dead calm.
I hit 3 ground casts with the TTR and then tried a pendulum. My back has been stiff the past couple of days and the TTR let me know real quick that it would show no mercy. Ouch. One pendulum with the TTR was all I wanted.
I was going to head back home but decided instead to try the HDX / Tourney butt with the 125. After the first cast something just didn't feel right. The span from the reel mounted low (on reducer) to the first guide was too long so I did some experimenting. I taped a 30 mm guide about 16" down the butt and gave it another cast.
It felt much better.
724' dead calm wind.
I was impressed. It was getting dark so I hurried to get off one more cast. My back was stiff but the HDX wasn't causing pain like the TTR.
Damn the torpedos........ let her rip...
749' dead calm wind and high humidity.
This rod really likes the 125 sinker.
